BMTT Australia Retreat with Dr Budi
Embodied Presence, Voice & Vitality for Everyday Life
5-Day Immersive Retreat | October 27–31, 2026 | Australia
Imagine walking into a room and feeling instantly at home in your body—your breath settled, your voice resonant, your attention available. People meet you differently. Conversations slow down. Listening deepens. You don’t need to assert yourself to be felt; your presence does the work. The BMTT Australia Retreat is a five-day immersion into embodied presence, vocal vitality, and nervous-system coherence—not for the stage, but for life. Through deep somatic practice, voice, movement, and relational work, you will cultivate a grounded aliveness that changes how you lead, connect, parent, teach, and move through daily encounters. This is not about fixing or performing yourself—it is about restoring access to a state of being from which clarity, resonance, and authentic expression naturally emerge.
This retreat is a non-performative, non-actor–focused immersion into Budi Miller Taksu Training (BMTT)—designed for artists, educators, leaders, therapists, healers, and seekers who wish to deepen presence, vitality, emotional intelligence, and embodied awareness in daily life.
You do not need to be an actor.
You only need curiosity, courage, and a willingness to listen to the intelligence of your body.

Why I'm Hosting Budi for this Retreat
The backstory: Many of my students will have heard me rave about the PEM Method, a method involving the biomechanics of emotions. Originally developed for actors so they could access and express emotions authentically without having to psychologically traumatise themselves. It has many applications beyond acting, including helping us to experience increased authenticity, wellbeing and healthy relationship to ourselves and our emotions. And SO much more.
I was blown away by the introduction I had to PEM about 6 years ago and have been on a quest to find the right person to share this with our community.
And I boy have I found the right person.
Dr Budi’s has some serious street cred, travelling the world teaching his sought after method BMTT, which includes PEM elements.
He’s world class.
And more than that.
Budi is one of those larger than life characters, someone who is so fully themselves, dialled up to the max.
He embodies everything he teaches. Authenticity and presence oozes from every fibre of his being.
Just being around him, I feel more present, playful and relaxed at a deep nervous system level.
I am the first person signing up for this with a full body hells yesssss.
THE RETREAT
What this Retreat Is
This is not a performance workshop. This is training for being alive with clarity, resonance, and integrity.
BMTT draws from rigorous actor-training lineages and reorients them toward wellbeing, awareness, and human flourishing—freeing these practices from the demand to perform, produce, or impress.
Across five days, participants are guided through a carefully structured arc that integrates:
- Voice, breath, and nervous system regulation
- Somatic and organ-based emotional awareness
- Embodied imagination and intuitive intelligence
- Energetic release, grounding, and integration
- Ritual, play, and deep rest
Core Practices You Will Experience
Fitzmaurice Voicework® (Adapted for Non-Actors)
Breath, sound, and vibration are used to:
- Release held tension and habitual effort
- Reorganize the nervous system
- Restore access to authentic voice and expression
- Support emotional discharge without analysis or storytelling
Voice is approached as a physiological and energetic function, not a performance skill.
Maskwork (Inner & Imaginal Mask)
Working without external performance goals, mask principles are used to:
- Quiet habitual identity and social roles
- Heighten sensory perception and listening
- Allow emotion, impulse, and intuition to arise organically
- Experience being “moved” rather than “doing”
This work is subtle, grounding, and often deeply liberating.
Michael Chekhov–Based Imagination Training
Imagination is treated as a somatic and spatial force, not a mental exercise.
You will explore:
- How imagery affects posture, breath, emotion, and vitality
- How to shift inner states freely and deeply
- How imagination supports resilience, creativity, and autonomy
Deep Somatic & Organ-Based Awareness
Drawing in the accent practices of the Natya Shastra, Fitzmaurice Voicework, Jerzy Grotowski, Micheal Chekhov and elements of PEM, this retreat places special emphasis on the organs as emotional and energetic centers:
- Liver, heart, lungs, kidneys, gut, and reproductive organs
- Their relationship to fear, grief, anger, joy, desire, and grounding
- Gentle practices that cultivate internal listening
This work supports emotional literacy, self-regulation, and embodied empathy.
Bioenergetic Healing & Energetic Integration
Drawing from bioenergetic principles, the retreat supports:
- Safe release of stored emotional charge
- Grounding through the legs, pelvis, and breath
- Reconnection to pleasure, vitality, and ease
- Integration rather than overwhelm
All work is choice-based, trauma-aware, and paced with care.

- A quieter, clearer inner landscape
- Greater emotional range without reactivity
