Do you feel ashamed about your current situation?

Not where you want to be right now? Feeling a sense of shame about your current situation? Hold up right there! Wherever you are in your journey, it’s never something to be ashamed of.

I’ve come across coaches who use shame as a tactic to push their clients forward, but let me tell you, that approach is completely messed up. In fact, it goes against everything I stand for as an advocate for healthy, ecological growth and transformation. There are better ways for sure.

Sometimes the judgements we carry come from the outside, sometimes we generate them from our own rejection of who we are and where we’re at. I coach, train and mentor a lot of new coaches and trainers and it can be really challenging to own where they’re at when they’re at the beginning of the journey. They look at what others who are further along can do, the standard of skill and expertise that has been set, and desperately want to be at the top of their field as quickly as possible and to skip the cringey, awkward learnings moments. Preferably immediately thanks!

And there’s the things that life throws along the way.

My own journey has been a series of unexpected twists and turns, fortune disguised as suffering, progress disguised as two steps backwards. Failed projects, chronic health challenges – all of it helped shaped me into exactly who I needed to be to get where I’ve got so far. People have judged me, criticised, labelled and doubted me. But the shallow opinions and judgments of others have no place in defining our paths.

Looking back, it’s actually awe-inspiring to witness how every twist, every turn, and every seemingly negative experience paved the way for personal and professional growth. The setbacks that once appeared to hinder my progress actually propelled me forwards to knowing myself so deeply and helped refine my path. They forced me to reassess my strategies, realign my priorities, and tap into hidden reservoirs of strength, creativity and resourcefulness.

Instead of focusing on where you are and where you or others think you should be, I’m far more interested in what you’re proud of and where you’re headed.

What are you proud of? What achievements, big or small, have you accomplished along the way? Take a moment to celebrate, give yourself a little dopamine hit and acknowledge the progress you’ve made.

Now, let’s shift our attention to where you’re headed. What are your aspirations, dreams, and goals? Envision the future you desire. Whether it’s building a thriving business, making a positive impact in your community, or achieving personal fulfilment, your path is unique to you.

Remember, there’s no shame in taking your own path, even if it diverges from societal expectations or norms.

And I bet you have already shown immense courage and determination in your life and that aspects of your journey are an inspiration to someone.

There’s no shame in where you are right now. Embrace your unique journey, celebrate your accomplishments, and continue moving forward with aliveness.

What are you proud of?

Where are you headed?

With love and warmth,
